Concordia Blade, Monday April 27, 1925
W. H. Amspacker, 86, one of the early settlers of cloud County, and widely known in the vicinity of Macyville where he farmed for many years, died Saturday evening at 9:35 o’clock at his home, 324 East Seventh Street. He had been ill for several weeks.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 O’clock Tuesday afternoon at the residence, and interment will be in the Macyville Cemetery.
William Henry Shaffer Amspacker was born in York County, Pennsylvania, Oct. 28, 1838. He was 86 years 5 months, and 28 days old at the time of his death.
He was married June 10, 1872, to Miss Lydia Ann Musser, in York County. In 1874 the Amspacker family moved to Cloud County and located on a farm near Macyville, where they remained for twenty years. They then moved to Republic County, making their home there for five years. They also resided near Jamestown for 7 years, and in 1905 Mr. Amspacker moved to Concordia where he had made his home for the last 20 years.
He is survived by six children, Lemmet L. of Glasco; Nelson S. of Rice; Mrs. Elma Davis of Carmen, Okla.; Mrs. Cora McCall of Concordia; Miss Anna of Concordia; and Mrs. Millie Fortney of Boulder, Colo.; two brothers and a sister, all of York County, PA.; seventeen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Amspacker was a member of the Lutheran Church.
