Henry Stauffer, a pioneer of Custar passed away at his home Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock. He was ill but a day, though he had been suffering for a couple of years following a stroke of paralysis.
Born near Perrysburg on May 14, 1852,, he was 79 years, 9 months and 24 days old at the time of his death. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and remained a faithful member to the end. When a young man he followed the carpenter trade and on March 8, 1881 he was united in marriage to Fanny Miller. After their marriage they came to the farm near Custar where he has resided since that time. To this union eleven children were born. A daughter Mary and an infant preceded him in death.
He was a very active and influencial farmer in this community. His wife and the following children survive: Mrs. G.H. Krone, West Dover Ohio; August Stauffer of Custar; Mrs. C.F. Fischer, Waterville; Mrs. H.F. Schnabele of Deshler and Pauline, Hilda, Martin, Henry, and Frederick at home. The funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Lutheran church in Custar. Rev. Guse officiating and burial will be made in the Milton Township Cemetery.
