Arthur was married to Grace Elizabeth Stauffer on September 22, 1945 in Allentown, PA by Pastor Walter H. Frank.
"Arthur G. Mayor Mack, 83, of Coopersburg, passed away Saturday January 22, 2005 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Grace E. (Stauffer) Mack. They were married for 59 years in September. Arthur owned and operated Macks Barber Shop, Coopersburg, for 39 years. He was then employed by the Lehigh County Prison in the commissary. Arthur served the borough of Coopersbug as mayor from 1970-82. During his term, he pioneered the development of the sewage system, coordinated relief efforts during the gas explosion, and was involved in all the activities relating to the Coopersburg Centennial Celebration in 1980. He represented the borough on the Lehigh-Northampton Joint Planning Commission. He was a member of the Lehigh County Housing Authority. He was a founding member of the local Junior Chamber of Commerce and served as a director of the Living Memorial Park Association. Arthur was an active member of the Coopersburg Volunteer Fire Company. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He served as past commander of the Coopersburg American Legion and was active in V.F.W. Post 3405. Arthur was also a member of the Grundsow Lodge, Southern Lehigh Jaycees and the Lions Club. He was a member of Calvary Bible Fellowship Church, Coopersburg, where he served on the finance committee, was a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. One of his many loves was Southern Lehigh Athletics. He was a founding member of the S.L. youth football program and little league baseball program, where he also served as an umpire and coach. He was a charter member of the Limeport Stadium Inc. and was a major fundraiser for their lighting committee. Arthur was inducted into the Southern Lehigh High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2001 as their No. 1 Fan. He was the top fundraiser for the school football stadium lighting project, instrumental in starting the gold card for senior citizens and was a fixture at all Solehi athletic events. He was a compassionate, God-loving person who always tried to do what was right. Survivors: Wife; sons, A. James Mack and Gerald A., husband of Patricia A. Mack, both of Coopersburg; grandchildren, Jason, Jonathan, Kimberly, Christopher, Jeremy and James; great-grandsons, Aidan and Tucker. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday in Calvary Bible Fellowship Church, 6782 Main Street, Coopersburg. Call 6-8:30 p.m. Thursday and 9-10:30 a.m. with services to follow Friday in the Church.
