Death of Grandma Wallingford
Mrs. M. H. Wallingford, a resident of this city 25 years ago, died at her home in Edna, Kas., Sunday, January 16, 1910, aged 83 years, 3 months and 25 days.
The deceased, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Farrow, was born in Mason county, Kentucky, September 21, 1826. She was married to Mark H. Wallingford, September 10, 1843. To them were born ten children, two dying in infancy. three living to manhood, but whose death preceded that of their parents, five- three sons and two daughters are still living.
Father and Mother Wallingford came from Fleming county. Kentucky, to Mound Valley in 1884 and lived here two years, moving from this place to Valeda in1886, where they lived until the death of Father Wallingford, which occurred January 21,1899. After his death, Mother Wallingford made her home with her son, V. C, until her death. She had been a member of the Methodist church for many years but owing to her afflictions had not attended regularly for years. She lived a life of a Christian, patient in s__ ring, and resigned to the will of her Master. After a long and useful life, she died as she had lived; honored, trusted, and loved.
The funeral service was held at the Baptist church in Edna, Monday at 10 a. m., conducted by the Pastor, Rev. Driver, assisted by Rev. F. H. Flickinger, of the Methodist church. The three children living in this county; C. M. Wallingford of this city, Mrs. S. E. Fitch of Valeda, and V. C. Wallingford of Edna, were present at the funeral. A son living in Illinois, and a daughter in Florida were unable to attend.
