Michael Ray Money, 64, of North Vernon, passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at his home which he built in North Vernon.
Mr. Money taught at both Jennings County High School and North Vernon Junior High School for 30 years, retiring in 1999. Mr. Money also was an assistant football coach at the high school during his early teaching career. Mr. Money was a 1964 graduate of North Vernon High School where he played football and was named to the Indiana All State Football Team in 1964. Mr. Money graduated from Indiana State University in 1969 and earned his Master's degree in 1971.
Born in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 10, 1947, the son of Thomas "Bill" Money of Butlerville, Indiana and the late Edith Yeager Money, he loved being with his family. Mr. Money enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, skeet shooting, and muzzleloading. A member of the NMLRA (National Muzzleloading Rifle Association) and Fishcreek Longrifles, Mr. Money won numerous medals and trophies including "Mountain Man of the Year" in 1983.
Survivors include his wife Cheryl Kellar Money who he married on August 24, 1968: his father Thomas "Bill" Money of Butlerville, Indiana; one son, Ryan (Angie) Money of North Vernon; one daughter, Rachel (Jeff) Lubker of Brownstown, Indiana; three sisters, Patty Ward and Kathy Lowry of North Vernon and Joyce Hamblin of Seymour; three grandchildren, Jonathan and Jacob Keith of Brownstown, Indiana and Dana Money of North Vernon.
Mr. Money was preceded by his mother-Edith Yeager Money.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home & Cremation Services in North Vernon with William Lykins & Rachel Lubker officiating. Burial will be at Kellar Cemetery in Brewersville, Indiana. Friends may call on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 from 4:oo p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and after 9:oo a.m. on Wednesday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home & Cremation Services in North Vernon.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Huntington's Disease Research through the funeral home
