Geraldine Ashworth, 79, of El Dorado, passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at Health South in Farmerville, La. She was born June 25, 1932, in Chidester, to John Thomas Orren and Susie Burley Orren. Geraldine was a homemaker who liked to play bingo, was actively involved in the VFW and was of the Baptist faith. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, James Edgar Ashworth; and a brother, James Orren. Survivors include a son, Roy Ashworth and his wife, Tammy, of El Dorado; a daughter, Kathy Parks and her husband, Paul, of Garland, Texas; a brother, Lonnie Orren and his wife, Helen, of Smackover; sisters, Linda Taweel and her husband, F. H., of Smackover, Carolyn Woodruff and her husband, John, of Junction City, and Betty Mason of El Dorado; grandchildren, Veronica Holt and her husband, William, of El Dorado, Heather Taylor and her husband, Michael, of El Dorado, Holly Ashworth of El Dorado, Greg Parks, Sonya Parks, Katelyn Parks and Jake Parks, all of Garland, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Dixie Ashworth and Kaylynn Taylor. Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, in Young's Chapel with the Rev. Charles Ainsworth officiating. Burial will follow at Old Parkers Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
