Louisa Maria Daniels was the first child of Palmer Daniels and Margaret Ann Oneil. The family moved from New York to Wisconsin in about 1845. Louisa became a school teacher before her marriage to James Robert Eastman in 1849. James and Louisa lived in Scott, Sheboygan, Wisconsin until about 1857 when they moved to Warren, Waushara, Wisconsin. Louisa became a widow in 1862 when James died due to illness contracted on the battlefield. To make ends meet, she ran a boarding house. She encouraged her children to get as much education as they could - they were all trained as teachers. In her later years she became involved in the suffrage movement in Wisconsin. She died in 1904 after having been a widow for over 42 years.
