Russell Joseph Holmes, 56, died Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 28, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield after being hospitalized from an industrial accident.
Russell Holmes was born July 7, 1918, in Colburn Township, Adams County, the son of Alfred and Nettie Holmes. He was a veteran of World War II, after serving three years and five months. After being discharged from the service, he married Gladys Eva Hamilton on March 20, 1946. To this union was born four daughters, Janet, Marie, Mary Lou and Donna.
Russell was employed by Fred Gerard for the last 20 years in the pulp industry.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys, daughters, Mrs Kenneth (Janet) Eastman, Bancroft; Marie, Mary Lou and Donna, at home; also two brothers, Darwin of Hancock, Dewey of Burnett; two granddaughters, Corena and Jamie; uncle, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
Services were at 1;30 Sat., Aug 31, at the Hamilton Funeral Home, Hancock, the Rev. Ard. Bloomberg officiating, with burial in the Hancock Cemetery with Military Rites.
Pallbearers were Garnet Eastman, Ernest Kromrie, Roy Gau, Vince Kramer, William Ashworth and William Kirsenlohr.
