Funeral services for Freddie Wayne Brooks, age 71, of Eros will be 2:00 PM, Monday, September 19, 2011 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mickey Hudnall and Rev. Darrell Dean officiating the service. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Bernice, LA.

Wayne was born August 28, 1940 in Bernice, LA and died September 17, 2011 in Ruston, LA. He was a member of Clark Springs Baptist Church in Eros, LA. Wayne graduated from Dubach High School in 1958 and received a Bachelor and Masters Degree of Business Administration from Louisiana Tech University. He served in the National Guard, U. S. Army, and Air Force Exchange Service. Wayne was employed with Conoco for a number of years and in 1969 received the Hustler of the Month award; he founded Brooks Oil Company and operated as a Franchise Jobber from 1971-1991. In 1992, he returned to Bernice, Louisiana and operated the family convenient stores in Bernice until their closure in late 1999.

Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his parents, T. L. and Edith Brooks and brother-in-law, Juett E. McGee.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie McGee Brooks; daughter, Kelly Elizabeth Stewart; granddaughters, Cameron and Claire Stewart; brother, Dr. G. Gary Brooks and wife Linda; sister0-in-law, Shellia M. Dean and husband Joe; nieces, Gina Martinez and husband David, Holley McBroom, Terri M. Jordan and husband Gene; nephews, Jay Brooks and wife Andrea, Scott Brooks and wife Christine, Greg McGee and wife Kristi, Darrell Dean and wife Renee; special cousins, Rex Colvin and wife Lucy, Jimmy Butler, Tony Butler and wife Biddy, Barbara Herren and husband Frank, Sadie Hall and husband Junior; special friends Tomi and April Tharp; and numerous great nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Pine Grove Baptist Church Building Fund or charity of the donor's choice.

Special thanks to Dr. John Brocks, Dr. Holly Kidd, Dr. David Osofo and the Administrator and Staff at Green Clinic Surgical Hospital.

Pallbearers will be Scott Brooks, Jay Brooks, Greg McGee, Ronnie Biard, Warren Ezell, and Joe Dean.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston.
