BAYARD TUCKERMAN DEAD.
Author of Books on American History Was Prominent in Society. Bayard Tuckerman, author of several books on American history and member family prominent in New York and Boston society, died suddenly yesterday at his home in Ipswich, Mass. Services will be held at the Ascension Memorial Church in Ipswich at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Mr. Tuckerman was born in this city sixty-eight years ago. He was graduated from Harvard in 1878, studying after-ward in Paris. From 1898 to 1907 he lectured on English literature at Princeton University. His books include “Peter Stuyvesant,” “William Jay and the Abolition of Slavery” “Philip Schuyler” and "History of English Pros e Fiction." He was married in 1882 to Annie Smith, daughter of the Rev. Dr. Cotton Smith, who survives, with their children. Mrs. William M. Elkins and Mrs. Evans R. Dick Jr. of Philadelphia. Mrs. G. Herman Kinnicutt of this city, and Bayard Tuckerman Jr. Among the clubs and societies to which Mr. Tuckerman belonged were the Century, Sons of the Revolution and Society of Colonial Wars.
