Laura “Tillie” Fono, 88, of Owensboro, died at Wellington Park on Monday, June 16, 2003. Her husband, former Owensboro Police Chief Joe Fono, preceded her in death in 1992.
Mrs. Fono was a beautician and the retired owner of Tillie’s Beauty Shop. She was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church.
Her two brothers, H.L. Murphy of Louisville and Clarence “Dick” Murphy, of Owensboro, survive her. Her three sisters, Chloretta Gillespie, Madeline Grossman, and Grace Whitten, preceeded her in death.
