Naida Brown Lords, 88 of Ashton, Idaho, passed away Dec. 22, 2016, at the Ashton Living Center, temporarily located in Rexburg, Idaho.

Naida was born Oct. 3, 1928, to Hyrum Mantle and Clarrissa (Howard) Brown. She was the second child of six children, born in Rigby, Idaho.

She spent the first few years of her life in Iona, Idaho. When she was in the fifth grade, her family moved to Osgood, where she finished the fifth grade and started the sixth grade. Later that year, her family moved to Shelton, Idaho, near the old Shelton Church. She finished the sixth grade and started the seventh grade. Her family moved to Ashton, and she continued her schooling until her senior year. In those years, she loved to roller skate, which was the fad at that time. She also enjoyed swimming and dancing. During her junior year, she started dating Wayne Lords.

On Jan. 14, 1946, she and Wayne were married at her parents' home in Ashton by Bishop Thomas Murdock. This marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on Dec. 7, 1951. This marriage brings three boys, Danny, Kevin and Kent, and stepdaughter, Lynnette Rose.

Naida served in the LDS church in many callings through the years, such as teacher for primary, second counselor and later president of Relief Society, mutual teacher, primary president, Gaynote teacher, stake nursery leader and also stake Gleaner counselor.

Naida worked 16 years as a nurse's aide at Ashton Memorial Hospital. She will be well remembered for her kindness to all, her devotion to her beliefs and service to her church and community. Her family will remember her for her perfection as a truck driver during potato harvest, famous popcorn balls and her mother's recipes at family dinners, family birthdays and loved time spent with the Chubby Chucklers.

She is survived by her sons, Danny (Karen), Kevin (Linda) and Kent (Kathy), and stepdaughter, Lynnette (Ron) Rose; siblings, Darwin (Barbara) Brown, Shirley (Bill) Lords, Ronald (Wilma) Brown, LaRae Birch and Dean (Diann) Brown; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, at the LDS 1st Ward Church, next to Pineview Cemetery in Ashton, Idaho. A short memorial service will follow directly after the visitation. Interment will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, Highway 26, located near Ririe, Idaho.
