He purchased government land and farmed. The land unfortunately had been previously claimed by the Indians. Simeon and his wife are said to have treated the tribe kindly and were able to get along. He let them plant their corn on his land.
The following children came from the union of Simeon and Elizabeth: Willis (died young), Joseph, Margaret, James, David, Elias, and Harriet (died young).
