M.B. Robeson died as the result of "shock and pulmonary edema" as a result of 2nd dgree burns over 50% of his body. He had been washing his car with gasoline, and the gas ignited. He died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Kansas City.

Gasoline Burns Prove Fatal
M. B. Robeson Dies Monday from Injuries Received in Explosion
M. B. Robeson died Monday at the St. Joseph Hospital in Kansas City from burns received April 25 at his home east of Kearney. He was washing parts of his motor car when the gasoline he washing ignited and caught this clothing.
Born April 7, 1901, on a farm east of Kearney, Mr. Robeson spent all of his life in the community, where he was an extensive farmer and land owner. His mother, Mrs. Minnie Belle Robeson, died when M. B. was born and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carey, took the baby and reared it. Growing to boyhood he attended Bethel school and later Kearney high school. He was constable of Washington Township and a member of the Bethel Board of Education.
On June 26, 1921, Mr. Robeson was married to Miss Hattie Carey, who with five children, George Carey, Lawrence L., Minnie Ruth, Bobbie Keith, and Ida Fay, all of the home, survives him.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Christian church in Kearney, conducted by Dr. H. I. Hester. Music was furnished by Mrs. Bert Hessel and Mrs. Ralph Riley who sang, “Your Best Friend” and “Good Morning,” with Mrs. Will Riley at the piano. He was laid to rest in Mr. Olivet Cemetery.
