After a lingering illness of many months, death relieved the suffering of Mr. Richard Stahl, at the Aurora City Hospital Sunday night, December 11, 1927, at about 10 o’clock.

Richard Stahl was born January 16, 1866, at Walderback, West Prussia, Germany, a twin brother of Theodore Stahl, now living in New York. When a youth of eighteen years, he came to America with his parents. In 1865, and lived on a farm near Somonauk for a number of years.

April 30, 1896, he was united in marriage to Mary Dienst at Racine, WI, after which they settled on a farm near Hinckley. This happy union was blessed with six children, four boys and two daughters; one son passed on in infancy. His wife passed on in 1923.

Mr. Stahl had enjoyed good health most of his life until about a year ago, when he was stricken with a heart affliction from which he was confined to his bed part of the time, and the last several months he was confined to his bed at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Warren Eberly. He seemed to be losing in his fight and was removed to the hospital in Aurora, where it was thought he could receive better care, but he gradually grew worse until the end. He was 61 years, 10 months, and 25 days old.

He is survived by three sons,--Earl, Donald, and Glenn; and two daughters, Mrs. Warren Eberly, and Mrs. Ray Dienst; also, three brothers, Edward of Hinckley; Theodore of New York, and Gustave in Germany, besides a host of dear friends.

The funeral service was held Wednesday, December 14, from the home of his son Earl at 1:30 and at 2 p.m. from St. Paul’s Church, Rev. Otto Schulze, the pastor, officiating. Mrs. Carl Morsch and Mrs. W. F. Leifheit sang; accompanied by Miss Alice Weddige on the piano. The pallbearers were Edward Peckman, Adolph Rompf, Arthur Brewe, Henry Papenberg, Thomas Jones and David Boa. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.
