James A. Clark
James A. Clark, age 82 of Fall River, died Monday, September 5, 2011 at Somerset Ridge Center. He was born in New Bedford the son of the late James J. and Elizabeth M. (Cheetham) Clark.
A graduate of St. John's Seminary in Brighton, MA, he was a communicant of Holy Name Church. For many years, he was a teacher of English at B.M.C. Durfee High School and Bristol Community College. He belonged to the Fall River Country Club, the Swansea Community Musicians, the First Friday Club, the Over The Hill Gang, the International Berkeley Society of Newport, RI and formerly assisted at the Food Pantry at the First Baptist Church. He was director of the Clark Learning Center in Portsmouth, RI; served in the National Guard; and authored two books about the Dominican Republic.
He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Burdge of Somerset and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Eleanor M. Desmond, Dorothy A. Matthews and Evelyn C. Babbitt.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 8:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE AT CHERRY PLACE 178 Winter St., Fall River followed by his funeral mass at 9:00AM in Holy Name Church 709 Hanover St., Fall River. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8pm. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River.
