Hal G. Allen of Roodhouse dies, rites on Tuesday (handwritten date 01/23/78)
ROODHOUSE – Hal G. Allen, Roodhouse resident who was wintering in Texas, died in Fort Worth Saturday at the age of 68 years.
He was born in White Hall Aug. 18, 1909, son of James H. and Ada Myrtle Aldred Allen. He was first married to Ilda Ruth Morrow in 1931 and she died in 1976. In 1977 he married Lora White of Roodhouse who survives along with a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Anderson of Auburn; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
These stepchildren survive: Ruby Brant, Fort Worth, Texas; Dan White and Mary Ann Plahn, both of Columbus, Ohio; Rev. Gordon White of Switzerland,; Connie Winter of Denver, Colo.; and Vicky Drechsler, Oak Park, Ill. There are 15 step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.
A brother, David Allen of Carrollton, and two sisters, Dorcas Allen, Roodhouse, and Lureta Allen, New York City, also survive.
Mr. Allen was a retired maintenance engineer and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday from Mackey-Daws Funeral Home with interment in Roselawn Cemetery at Wood River.
Visitation is today at the funeral home.
