Harold Ellis Olson, 62, formerly of Alma Center, passed away at 4 a.m. Thursday, December 4, 1958 at his home at 2114 18th Street, Milwaukee following a severe stroke.
Harold Ellis Olson was born April 25, 1896 at Merrillan, Wisconsin and was the son of Gertrude and S. P. Olson. His childhood was spent on a farm near Merrillan.
Upon reaching manhood he engaged in cheese making at Alma Center for a period of seven years following which he and his family moved to Milwaukee where he was employed as the Chief Engineer for Western Leather for a period of seven years.
Mr. Olson was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Our Fathers Evangelical Lutheran church in Milwaukee March 29, 1953.
Mr. Olson is survived by his wife, the former Stella Hoveland, four daughters, LaVerne, Mrs. Vernon Olver, Milwaukee, Rogene, Mrs. Donald McNulty, Milwaukee, Fern, Mrs. Leo Meyers, Milwaukee, and Gloria, Mrs. Charles Knoll, Germany, five sons, Glenn, James and Larry each of Milwaukee, John, Santa Anna California, and Gaylord, Germany. He is also survived by one sister, Ellen Smith of Sparta and twenty grandchildren.
Mr. Olson will be remembered as a man who was very kind to everyone and always thoughtful of others. He had many friends.
Funeral services for him were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, December 8 from the Merrillan Methodist church with the Rev. Robert Isler officiating. Richard Rousey and Darlene Anger had charge of the musical selections which were "Nearer My God To Thee" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus". The pallbearers were Gust Johnson, Irvill Olson, Sam Finn, Maynard Olson, Merrillan, Frank Duxbury and Gene Thayer, Alma Center. Interment was made in the Alma Center cemetery. The Jensen Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
Persons who came from away to attend the services included Mr. and Mrs. Earl Johnson, Fall Creek, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Paulson, Pigeon Falls, Mrs. Frank Hurly and Morris Peterson, Green Bay, and Mr. and Mrs. Loren Bilderbeck, Eau Claire, Mrs. Hib Krumholtz, Humbird.
