-Everett (Bill) Banka, 80, passed away May 2, 2008, at Ivy Court in Coeur d'Alene. He was born March 26, 1928, to George and Verna Banka in Rathdrum. He was one of five children born to that union. Bill went to school most of his life in Spirit Lake. He followed his folks across the panhandle of Idaho as they ministered in different churches in the Pilgrim Holiness Church denomination. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force April ll, 1946, and served over seas in Inchgon, Korea and Japan. Later he received a medical discharge due to a service connected disability. He loved fishing and working with woodworking tools. He married the love of his life Donna Kirchner at the McGuire Church in Post Falls on July 27, 1949, they were married for 58 years. He is survived by his wife; Donna; son Ray of Williamia, Ore.; and daughater Shirley at home; sister Esther Blinn of Coeur d'Alene. He was preceded in death by one son, two brothers and one sister.
-Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens with Pastor Boone and Dr. Hunter officiating. The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of North Idaho HOSPA program who sat with him at Ivy Court. ENGLISH FUNERAL CHAPEL, Coeur d'ALene, is in charge of services.
