Orley G. "Joe" Cook passed away at 3:20 AM, on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Golden Living Center – Sycamore Village. He was born February 10, 1923 in Bloomfield, IN to the late Emery and Clovia (Flake) Cook. He attended Wildcat Schools in Green County, Indiana. Joe married Goldie Jean McDaniel early in life and was the mother of his children. She preceded him in death. He then later married Mavis Marlene Cook on March 19, 1955 in Bloomfield, IN and she survives. During his life, Joe served with the Army, worked at the Bloomfield Brickyard and also at Continental Steal. He attended the Faith Community Church, and enjoyed past times such as watching ball games and keeping an immaculate garden. He always thought the world of his children and grandchildren.

Joe is survived by his wife, Mavis Marlene Cook; his children, Danny Leon (Sandra) Cook and Gloria Jean (Fred) Hartman; his grandchildren, Valerie (Todd) Williams, Renee (Steve) Ledford, Alison (Nick) Rish, Brent Cook, Wade (Lisa) Cook, Pamela (Mark) Johnson, Nick Cook, Roger (Linda) Hartman and Amanda Glassburn; his great grandchildren, Stephanie (Daniel) Tate, Joseph Johnson, Nicholas Rish, Andrew Ledford, Brent Ledford, Justin Ledford, Acacia Riddle, Vance Williamson, Blake Williamson, Tristyn Cook, Brandon Cook and Jaren Cook; along with great great grandchildren, Halie Johnson, Jasmine Tate and Daniel Tate. Other survivors include two brothers, Jack (Jo Ann) Cook and Charles (Edna) Cook and a sister Ruth Fields.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Goldie Jean McDanilel; a son, Billy Joe, which he lost in Korea; brothers, Wilburn, Marvin, Gleddis, Max, Hershel and Jim; along with sisters, Mary Seals, Dorothy Sexton and Patrica Stewart.

Joe's family will be receiving relatives and friends for a time of visitation on Sunday, September 11, 2011 from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, Kokomo. A funeral for Joe will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. also at the mortuary. Later on Monday, at 3:00 P.M., we will be meeting at Calvertsville Cemetery, Calvertsville, Indiana for burial.
