Aged 79 years, 7 months, 3 days

Sakrus Peter Olson was born in Jerna, Sweden, June 20, 1854. He passed away at his home in the town of Alma, January 23, 1934, making his age 79 years, 7 months and 3 days.
Mr. Olson resided for about 30 years in Sweden. While there he learned the mason trade. On Sept. 1, 1873, he was united in marriage to Greta Larson, and in the year 1883, they came to the United States, locating in Merrillan, where they resided for about one year. They afterwards moved to a small farm just outside of Merrillan, known as the Davis farm. About a year later they purchased and moved to his present farm where they continued to reside. Ten children were born of whom three are dead, namely Greta, Andrew and Ernestine.
Mr. Olson was a hard worker and while developing his farm, followed the mason work and he has left many monuments of his work which will endure. He has gradually failed in health for the last year, and after his wife's death on April 8, 1933, he failed more rapidly and his death on January 23 was not unexpected.
He leaves to mourn, five sons Ole, of Manawa, John, George, Oscar and Harold of Merrillan, and two daughters, Mrs. Kathryn Hanchett, of Asotin, Wash., and Ellen, of Sparta, twenty grandchildren and a host of friends.
Mr. Olson at an early date in his life was confirmed in a Swedish Lutheran church and was sincere in his faith. He has passed to the Great Beyond and to his final reward.
Those from away to attend the funeral were Ole Peterson of Manawa, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Lyons and family of Waukesha, Mrs. Knutson, of Pray, and a large number of friends from Garden Valley. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Geo. W. Vaughan at the M. E. church on Thursday afternoon and burial was made in the Oakwood cemetery.
