Clarence McGlothlin, 91, of the Big A Mountain section of Honaker, died December 28, 2007 at his home.
Born January 4, 1916 in Russell County, he was a son of the late William and Minnie Wilson McGlothlin.
He had spent most of his life in the area and was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Honaker. He was a former employee of the Newport News Shipyard and had owned and operated McGlothlin Grocery for 21 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Beatrice Barnhart, Effie Dye, Audrey Price, Jean Lois McGlothlin, and two brothers, Clayton McGlothlin and Claude McGlothlin. In his generation, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survivors: wife of 54 years, Lucy Mae Cox McGlothlin; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Angie McGlothlin of Honaker, Tim and Doris McGlothlin of Raleigh, NC; grandsons, Bart McGlothlin and wife, Heather, Sam McGlothlin and Will McGlothlin, all of Honaker; step-granddaughter, Angie Steele of Nashville, TN; special caregivers, Patty Cook and all hospice caregivers; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m. December 31, 2007 in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, with Pastor Vonley Pruitt officiating.
Interment followed in the McGlothlin Cemetery on Big A Mountain.
