Funeral services for Alvie McMillan, 73, were held Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Catoosa with the Rev. Joe Horton officiating. Burial was at Timber Ridge Cemetery under direction of Kennard Funeral Services. McMillan was born October 15, 1918, in rural Rogers County on his family's farm, the son of William Everett McMillan and Minnie Bell Draper McMillan. McMillan was reared in the Catoosa area and attended Catoosa schools. He was married in 1941 to Irene Williams and was employed 32 years at Manhattan Furniture Co., until retirement in 1979. For many years, he took active care of Timber Ridge Cemetery. He died October 17 following a lengthy illness. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Irene of the home; a daughter, Nedra Williams and her husband Thomas of Catoosa; a son, Leonard McMillan and his wife Jeanette of Catoosa; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bernie McMillan of Colcord and Herbert McMillan of Catoosa; four sisters, Gladys Conner of Catoosa, Marie Dennis of Tulsa, Shirley Blankenship of Catoosa and Betty Dolen of Catoosa; 22 nieces and nephews and many other loving relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Gary McMillan, Jimmy McMillan, Ronald McMillan, Anthony McMillan, Dewane McMillan and Wendell McMillan. Honorary pallbearers were Scott Blankenship, Wayne Harvey, Larry Conner, Jackie Conner, Gerald Conner, J.C. Abercrombie and Bill York. (Catoosa Times-Herald, October 23, 1991)
