Horace was born in Fairview, Dallas Co., AR to Mabel Gilliam and Horace Hanby Rutherford, on 9 May 1928. He married Mary Ann Burris on 1 May 1948 in Clark Co., AR, after his return from service in the United States Navy in World War II.
Horace is survived by his wife of 63 years; his older sister, Marion Rutherford Hillman; daughters Dianne Pittman (Raymond) and Debbie Atkins (Ricky); five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and friends who will miss him greatly.
His sister, Dot, as well as his parents, are buried in Rock Springs Cemetery, in Sparkman, Dallas Co., AR.
