Son of the late James D. and Nancy Lee Campbell Bannister, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James D. Bannister, Jr., Garnewell Bannister and Joseph Billy Bannister; and three sisters, Azalee Bannister Rykard, Marjorie Cornelia Bannister and Ottie Lillis Bannister. He was survived by his wife of 62 years, Murrell Prince Bannister; two sons, Samuel T. Bannister and Terry L. Bannister (Carolyn); a daughter, Patti A. Bannister; two sisters, Charlotte Bannister Smith and Harriett Bannister Cartledge (Richard); three grandchildren, Brandy Drawdy, Jo-Dan Bannister and Lucas Lee Bannister; three great-grandchildren; and an extended family of relatives and friends. He was a member of Clinton Masonic Loddge #3 and the Hajaz Shrine Temple. He was a retired truck driver. He was a member of the Abbeville First Baptist (71 years) where his funeral was held on October 25, 2009, with The Rev. Ron Gaynor, The Rev. Wayne Wiggins and The Rev. Kile Antone officiating.
