RICHFIELD - Billie Angell Horton, 75, of Panther Point Road, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
She was born April 7, 1934, in Davie County to the late Cashwell Jones Angell, Sr. and Clona Landreth Angell. Ms. Horton was a charter member of Blaise Baptist Church and retired from Sara Lee Corp. She was an avid reader, bird watcher and lover of wild flowers.
Ms. Horton never missed an opportunity to witness her greatest joy in life, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, participating in the activities they loved.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruby Purvis and Virginia "Teny" Clement Eaton; and a brother, C.J. Angell, Jr.
Ms. Horton is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Curtis) Spell of Mocksville; a son, David (Desi) Neal of Rockwell; three grandchildren, Christopher (Melissa) Spell, Corey Spell and Heather (Ryan) Froelich; four great-grandchildren, Maddox Spell, Parker Froelich, Aidan Froelich, Evan Froelich, and a baby boy (Spell) on the way; two sisters, Betty (Alton) Carter of Richfield and Bobbie (Jack) Daniels of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews. The last 18 years of her life were spent with her best friend and companion, George Foster of Richfield.
Service and Visitation: A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 10 at Eaton Funeral Chapel in Mocksville with the Rev. Joey Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Joppa Cemetery in Mocksville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Memorials: They request that memorials be considered for , Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Brancomb 10, Charlotte, NC 28215-3225.
