MONROE--August F. Broege of Grand Rapids, Minn., who until about eight months ago lived in the Monroe area, drowned Tuesday in a Minnesota lake.
He was born in South Wayne on Dec. 30, 1903, the son of Mr. and Mrs. August Broege. He was married to Dorothy Tschabold, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are three sons, August of rural Monroe, and LeRoy and Leon, both of Rockford; three brothers, Frank and Charles of Monroe and Carl of South Wayne; and two sisters, Miss Ethel and Mrs. Dewey Haeft, both of Clinton, Wis.
He was a World War II veteran.
Funeral service will be 1:30 Saturday at the Shriner-Neushwander funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Olm, pastor of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
