Lula Mae was born on October 19, 1920, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Sylvester and Laura McGowan and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, in Fresno, California. Lula enjoyed her childhood and shared many special times with her 13 siblings. She is preceded in death by her parents; twelve of her siblings; and her beloved husband Paul. She met and married the love of her life, Paul Raymond Richardson and shared 57 memorable years of life with him. They welcomed into the world two children, Gloria Jean and Paul Wayne and built a home filled with love and laughter. Lula will be remembered for her love and devotion to family and friends and her tirelessness when it came to helping others. She enjoyed spending time with her many friends, camping and picnics, and cooking. She cultivated a boysenberry crop each year and was best known for her boysenberry cobblers. Throughout her children's school years, she was a dedicated room mother, 4-H Club leader, and active in the PTA. Lula's latter years were filled with joy by spending time with her three grandchildren. Lula will be sorely missed by all, especially her family. She is survived by her daughter, Gloria Lockwood and her husband Tim, of Templeton, Ca; her son, Wayne and his wife Peggy; three grandchildren, Laryssa Day, Lacey Richardson, Travis Richardson and his wife Larissa, all of Fresno, Ca; and sister, Emma Sargeant. Visitation will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Sunday, September 18, 2011, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Stephens & Bean Chapel on Monday, September 19, 2011, at 10:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
