Francis M. Dice, a pioneer resident of the east side of the county passed away about three o'clock, Thursday morning at the home of his son Ernest Dice, one mile east of Hopewell church in Dallas township. Mr. Dice is in his ninetieth year and has always been an active farmer as long as his health permitted. We have been unable to secure an obituary for this week's issue and will have full particulars next week.

NINETY YEAR OLD PIONEER DIES THURSDAY
BORN ON OLD DICE HOMESTEAD NEAR FORDHAM AND LIVED ALL HIS LIFE IN NATIVE COUNTY
Francis Marion Dice pioneer farmer and stockman, originally of the Fordham community passed away early Thursday morning, July 23 at the home of his son Eanest Dice, 9 miles northeast of Maysville, where he had made his home for the past six years.
Though he was in his ninethieth year, frail and his eyesight almost gone, he still managed to get about and help with the farm chores. He led an active and industrious farm life until his 85th year. He was the last of the nine Dice children and was better known to his friends and associates by the name of "Kern" Dice.
He was the son of John W. and Harriet Gregg Dice, and was born on the old Dice homestead near Fordham, southeast of Maysville, April 17, 1852.
He was twice married and reared two families. He was married to Miss Ella Clarke, Feb. 2, 1883 and two children were born of their union, Harry, who died March 26, 1924 and Clarke, of Highland, Kansas. His wife passed away Nov. 26, 1894.
On February 8, 1897 he was married to Mary Elizabeth Sherard. To their union were born four children. Mrs. Dice predeceased him Sept. 14, 1935.
He became a member of the Christian Chapel Church under the ministry of Elder T.J. Williamson and remained a faithful member of that organization until death called him. He is survived by three sons, Clarke Dice of Highland, Kansas; Ira Dice of Cameron; and Ernest Dice of Weatherby and two daughters, Mrs. Irene McGrew of Maysville; Mrs. Esther Osborn of Cameron and five grandchildren, Marie Dice, Gene Dice, Billy Miller, Donna Lee McGrew and Ernest Eugene Dice.
He has numous nephews and nieces among them being Mrs. Stafford Owen of this city, John O. Dice, southeast of this city and Mrs. E.T. Harris of Cameron.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 Friday afternoon at the Baptist church in Maysville, conducted by the Rev. V.I. Heriford. A quartet composed of Mrs. Jackson McCrea, Mrs. Ted Bartlett, Ed Snider and C.T. Pilcher with Miss Evelyn McConnell at the piano sang "Going Down The Valley", "City Four-Square" and "The Old Rugged Cross".
Pallbearers were his old friends and neighbors, Bert Slates, Harold Whiteaker, William Whiteaker, Homer Meek, Clyde Wood and Charles Hutchings. Burial was in Maysville Cemetery.
