Walter James Anglesey is the ninth of ten children born to Robert Angelsey and Mary Bowcutt. He grew up in the LaBelle area where his father farmed.

Walter married Alice Luella Hall on October 17, 1916 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They made their home in the LaBelle area, where they farmed for many years. In 1956 they moved to Idaho Falls, residing there until 1964 when they moved to Ashton.

Alice died in 1972. Walter went to Rupert, Idaho where one of his daughters lived and died there.
Walter and Alice became parents to thirteen children, seven died as infants, six were raised to adulthood.
