We have never been able to gather a great deal of information about Mary as she died at such a young age and my grandfather, William Martin, would not discuss her. We know from census records that her parents were J. B. and Mary N. Hammonds. We know from Uncle Lyman Henry Crowe, that they lived not far from the Church Cemetery where they are buried and that her parents and siblings are also buried in this cemetery. The community which used to exist near the Church has all but vanished except for a few stone steps, etc.
