Suggested edit: He was actually born 8 Mar 1880 like his DC shows. If you also look at the 1880 Census for his family (10th United States Census 1880 – Thomas Marshall Secrest & Lydia Frances Ullom Family – NARA T9, Roll 428; Precinct 2; Concord, Lewis, Kentucky; Vol 19, ED 56; Page 27 (14), Lines 42-48; 9 Jun 1880) it shows that he was born Mar 1880.
I don't know who put the grave marker there for Elijah & Lydia but the birth year for him is incorrect. It happens frequently when someone other than the immediate family have stones set. It happened with my father's grave marker. My sister decided that she would put a stone there without consulting other family members and she got his birth year wrong.
Luckily those things can be corrected. I was planning on getting some stones set for other family members and might as well include correcting Elijah's birth date. Unless you are family and object. He is my 1st cousin.
