Death Takes Mrs. Austin
Mrs. Minnie Koonce Austin 70, of Cloverdale, died at the Mitchell-Hollingsworth Annex to the ECM Hospital at 1:45 am Sunday following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Austin was a lifelong resident of the county and lived most of her life in the Cloverdale Community.
She was a widow of the late J.R.Austin web-know farmer and businessman of Cloverdale Community and was an active member of the Liberty Baptist church at Threet’s Crossroads.
Funeral services were held at Liberty Baptist church at 2 o’clock this afternoon with Rec L.E. Kelley, pastor of the Highland Baptist church officiating, assisted by Rev. Dean Simpson pastor of the Cloverdale Methodist Church. Burial followed at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
Surviving is two daughters Mrs. Edward Chowning, Cloverdale and Mrs. Raymond Taylor, Florence, seven sons, Lloyd of Montgomery, earl, of Dayton, Beach Florida, Douglas of Cloverdale, John of Sheffield, Coy and Robert of Florence and J.R. Jr. of Cloverdale, three sisters Mrs. J.E. Lovelace, Florence, Mrs. Henry Mrs. and Mrs. Madge Harbin of Cloverdale, one brother Price Koonce, of Cloverdale 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Active bearers were Dupree Austin, Earl Koonce, Eugene Marks, Homer Lovelace, Glen Mrs, Estes Koonce, and James Lovelace.
The honorary bearers will be Grandville Simmons, Chester Robertson, David McCorkle, Dr. H. V. Herndon, Dr. J.D. Walden, Weaver Fuqua, Herman K. Longshore, Bryan Austin, Clyde Austin, Clarence Garrett, and Harold Koonce. Brown Service of Florence in Charge.
