Eleanor was my mother's cousin. Growing up I spent every holiday in Stockton with my grandparents and the rest of our extended family. The women could always be found in the kitchen. They included my grandmother, her sister, Margaret, who was Eleanor's mother, and my mother. They made our holidays very special, and I particularly enjoyed being with Eleanor. It was apparent that she loved our family gatherings, and I always wanted my holidays to be just as special for my family.

Ellie and I were cousins, but we felt more like sisters. Our mothers were sisters and were very close. Ellie and I were born two months apart, and from birth we enjoyed many happy summer vacations at each other's homes. We were gigglers in our teen years – much to my Uncle (Ellie's father) Leo's chagrin and were sent to our room more than once. We remained close for the rest of our married lives until that horrible disease – Alzheimer's – took her from us. She will remain in our hearts forever.

Eleanor was my grandmother's first cousin. She and my grandmother were as close as sisters their whole lives. Our family loved spending time with her and her husband, Rick, at Thanksgiving dinners. She was a very charming and graceful woman that will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
