James Edward Carrell was married twice:
1) Anna Elizabeth Cave (1848-1875), buried Bethel Presbyterian Cemetery, near Campbellsville, Taylor County, Kentucky. CHILDREN: William Thomas Carrell (1866-1950); Mary Ann Carrell Griffin (1969-1951); Erman Moise Carrell Allison (1871-1947); Rufus Granger Carrell (1873-1948). All of these children moved to Texas; William Thomas Carrell later moved to Oklahoma.
2) Matilda Brooks (1853-1920), buried Brooks Graveyard, Newport, Cocke County, Tennessee. CHILDREN: Addie Lois Carrell Byrd (1881-1913); Edward Cornelius Carrell (1890-1963); James Garland Carrell (1892-1968); Ottice Lilburn Carrell (1898-1961). All of these children stayed in Tennessee.
