Theresa was born July 13, 1917 in Pittsburg, KS to William and Elizabeth (Schartz) Colles. She lived in Pittsburg most of her life, until moving to Wichita in 2001 to live with her daughter.
On December 22, 1937, she was united in marriage to Walter John Blanken.
She was an avid gardener and a stay at home mom.
She was a long time member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and volunteered for nearly 30 years at the thrift store ran by Our Lady of Lourdes, and a member of the St. Mary's Altar Society.
She is survived by four daughters, Rose Buening and husband, Marvin of Joplin, MO, Kay Nason and husband, Ralph of Huntington Beach, CA, Connie Webber of Wichita, KS, and Vickey Neeland and husband, Dennis of Stilwell, KS; a son Walter John Blanken and wife, Judy of Pittsburg, KS; eleven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, her parents, her brothers, William and John Colles and sister Mary Colles.
Mass of Christian burial will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday (Sept. 13) at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Chad Arnold as celebrant. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. The parish rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Monday (Sept. 12) at Brenner Mortuary, where the family will receive friends following the rosary until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and/or St. Jude memorial fund. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
