Jane Parriott Ransom Lynch, San Antonio TX, was born in Comanche TX on July 13, 1924. She was granddaughter of West Texas oil man Levi Smith, who brought in the Yates Field, numerous wells on land owned by the University of Texas, and who developed the model oil town of Texon TX. She died peacefully on August 13, 2011, at her San Antonio home at the age of 87.

After attending St. Mary's Hall and studying Astronomy at the University of Texas at Austin, Jane Ransom married Jasper Hylton Spencer Lynch in San Antonio after meeting him on a trip to England to visit her high school classmate, his sister, Ann Lynch. Living briefly in South Africa and New York, Jane returned to San Antonio in 1953 for the birth of her son John and remained here for the rest of her life. She loved every minute of the over 4,000 hours of volunteer work she gave to the Santa Rosa Children's Hospital and was passionate about her books, traveling, beach combing, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and always cherished her friends from all walks of life. Jane was also proud of the fact that she was a licensed pilot during the 1940's.

She is survived by her son John and his partner Ron Samuels of Los Angeles CA; cousin John P. Chilton and family of Dallas TX; and her dear friend, companion, and helper, Yolanda Solis of San Antonio.
