Laramie Resident 65 Years Succumbs in Night at Home; Was 87 Years old

...one of Laramie's most amiable pioneers who built his life around the philosophy of "do unto others as you would be done by" was found dead at his home 709 Grand avenue, this morning. He was 87 years old. He had resided here 65 years.

...Mr. Campbell was a friendly philosopher, a sportsman, avid reader and good neighbor. He had resided in the community since 1880.

...was born at Woodstock, N.H., 16 Oct 1858. ...came to Colorado in 1879 [eventually landing in Laramie to work in the UPRR Rolling Mill]...worked as a secretary for W.h. Holliday for 19 years.

...married Mae Baird, member of a prominent Laramie family, in Mar 1890 [Miss Baird was the organist at the Presbyterian church, and as deputy clerk, issued their own marriage license.]. Mrs. Campbell died in 1930.

He had been a member of the Board of tTustees at Ivinson Hospital since it's inception (1917) and was a candidate for State Auditor after WY's admission to the union...served one session in the WY legislature.
