Rev. McLain was a pioneer minister in the state of Oklahoma, and known for his successful evangelism and being a church planter.
He as a young man, worked closely with Rev. Elzie Yandell, an older minister, in eastern Oklahoma, who mentored him--and held revival services with him.
Rev. McLain was a motivator wherever he pastored. He often went to a church that was in a low state, and brought it to vitality and on successful financial footing,

He was one of the elected delegates to be a representative to the General Cooperative Association meeting in Denison, TX in 1934, when the State Ass'n met in Ada, OK; He was elected as Okla. State Evangelist in 1936, along with Dr. I.W. Yandell and Rev. Paul Purcell. In 1941, as state evaangelist, he reported having eight revivals, 249 conversions, and organized three the past year. He was active in the state church work, and often called upon to preach in their meetings.

He married Winnie Bradshaw McLain, a public school teacher, with multiple talents, who helped him greatly by her wise counsel and her contribution to their church ministry.
Their only daughter, Clara June McLain Rolen, married a minister, Rev. Lonnie Rolen, Calif.
Rev. McLain is remembered fondly not only for his work, but also for his wit and humor which won him many friends along the way.
