Herby C Childers, 83, a longtime resident of Mountainair, New Mexico, passed away Monday, February 14, 2000, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born November 15, 1916, to Tommie Ellen (Morris) and David Pascal Childers in Snyder, Texas. Although often-times his legal first name is assumed to be Herbert, but it really was Herby.

He served in the US Army during World War II.

Herby was a retired construction worker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie and David Childers; three sisters, Pearl Eubank, Muriel Bailey and Cora Lee Farmer; two sons, David C. Childers and Melvin Ray Childers; one brother, Calvin Childers; his first wife, and mother of his children, Pauline E (Oldfield) Childers-Perryman; and his second wife, Naomi Pauline (Shockley) Dye-Childers.

Herby is survived by one son, Herby Paul (Dorothy Jean) Childers of Valliant, OK; one daughter, Linda Carol (Buddy Ray) Morris of Broken Bow, OK; four sisters: Vera Thomas, and Lela Fay Leonard of Los Lunas; Norma Guillot of Alamogordo; and Mae Robertson of Edgewood; eight grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Gerald Dale Schennault, Steven Earl Combs, Travis Ray Combs, Jody Don Combs, David Gene Childers, Danny Ray Childers, Ronny Paul Childers and Johnny Ray Prentiss.
Honorary pallbearers were: Charles Dodd, Cecil Autry, Vernon Guillot, Toby Barela and Bill Bennett.
