John Mathias
John MATHIAS, 93, R.R. 2, Macy, died at 10:30 p.m. Monday at the home of his son, Vernon [MATHIAS], R.R. 1, Akron.
Mr. Mathias was born Feb. 28, 1882, in Winamac, to Jacob and Mary REAP MATHIAS. His marriage was in Mexico, Ind., on Feb. 26, 1908 to Belva LOCKWOOD, who died on Nov. 22, 1963. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist church, Macy.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Mildred JONES, Macy; three sons, Vernon [MATHIAS], Akron; Jacob "Bud" [MATHIAS], Peru, and Dean [MATHIAS], Roann; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; five great-great-granchildren; one sister, Mrs. Bessie PERRY, Foley, Ala., and one brother, Edd MATHIAS, Pleasant View Nursing home, Wabash. One daughter, Cleo [MATHIAS], five brothers and one sister preceded.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist church with the Rev. Robert JARBOE officiating. Burial will be at the Greenlawn cemetery, Mexico. Friends may call at the McCain funeral home, Macy, after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday and at the church one hour befor the services.
