Deborah always called Della was a native of Orange, Mass born there 5 July 1815. She went to Fryville Mass.(Bolton area) to study perhaps in the female academy run by the Quakers there. She married her husband Hiram Warner Farnsworth in Boston in Mar 17, 1842. Her middle name is from her mother's maiden name of Torrey. Her parents were George & Deborah (Torrey) Lerow. She taught French and Botany at New London Female Academy. Died young from consumption. Her mother-in-law Lydia Thomas Farnsworth requested that each new generation of Farnsworths have one girl named Della in memory of this young woman. Two more Dellas have followed in the family-see below- (Hiram commissioned her stone to read that she was 35, but she lacked an entire month of reaching that age when she died.)
Beyond Oliver Dimon buried in this same cemtery, Della had 2 daughters:
!. Kate Leland, who married Carlos G. Akin-both are in Topeka Cemetery in Topeka
2. Mary Emma who married Henry C. Akin.
Carlos and Henry were brothers who married the Farnsworth girls Kate and Mary Emma (Minnie).
Kate's first daughter was named Della Lerow.
Also Della Lerow, daughter of E.S. and Emma Farnsworth carried the name on as well see # 126570120.

"Three years this morning at 2 o'clock Della died in my arms. Her last words were-

"When this strain is over how sweetly I will sing"

Hiram Warner Farnsworth's diary for 1853 mentions that on January 29, 1853 he went to visit the monument erected to Della.
