Mrs. Maria Burk --Stricken with apoplexy on May 10, Mrs. Maria Burk, widow of William Burk, well known in this city as a maker of hair switches, died at her home, No. 833 Pine street, third floor, Thursday morning at 2 o'clock. Previous to the stroke which resulted in her demise Mrs. Burk had been in ill health for about one year. She was a daughter of the late Elias and Catherine Cole and was born in Bushkill township, Northampton county, sixty four years ago. Sixteen years age she removed to this city, where she had since resided. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Oliver Bruch, of Lincoln, Neb. The funeral will be held on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Relatives, friends and members of the Women's Relief Corps. No. 47 of the G.A.R., of which the deceased was a member and officer, are respectfully invited to attend the services which will be conducted in Zion United Brethren Church with Rev. C.A. Snavely officiating.

Elias (Alum) Cole died in Katellen, Bushkill Twp., Northampton County, PA, on 27 Mar 1892. I believe he is buried at Bushkill ME Church Cemetery; but have not found any evidence as of yet.
Mother - Catherine Cole (nee Hawk) born @ 1809 in Pennsylvania; still living in March of 1892. Death unknown.
