Swansea - Stephen Owen Raulerson, III, 74, of Swansea, passed away peacefully at the home of his son, surrounded by his loving family on March 8, 2007. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2007, at Faith Baptist Church in Swansea with Revs. David Carter and Erskine Shivers. Burial will be in Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church at 2:00 p.m. Sunday. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be members and friends of Green Swamp Hunt Club. Mr. Raulerson was born in l932 in Taylor County Fla., a son of the late Stephen and Jennie Whitfield Raulerson, Jr. He was known affectionately by many names, "Pop," "Rollo," "Steve" and "Sonny," were a few, but the names that had the most significance were "Daddy" and "PaPa." He had a generous, loving spirit that always had room for one more. For the majority of his life he was a carpenter and could work outdoors where he loved to be. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his favorite pastime was singing and listening to Gospel music. He passed on his love of the outdoors and music to all his family. He leaves us with the blessed assurance that he has joined our Lord and Savior in his eternal heavenly home. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Swansea for almost 40 years. He was an Army veteran of Korea. He is survived by his 10 children: sons, Steve, Stanley, Kenneth (Jimbo) and Deborah, Johnny and Barbara, and Paul and Sheila Raulerson of Swansea; daughters, Diane and O'Neal Ward, Gina Massey, both of Perry Fl., June Gebhart, Santana Raulerson and Amanda Hitchcock of Swansea. He leaves 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, L.V. Raulerson and 2 sisters, Evelyn Neeley and Edith Wilder, all of Florida. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruby Chavis Raulerson, a grandson, Thomas "Jab" Shaw, and 2 brothers, Dwight "Bunky" and Richard Raulerson. The family would like to extend a heart-felt thanks to "Miss" Debbie Sloan and other employees of Odyssey Health Care. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007 at Faith Baptist Church in Swansea, and other times at the home of his son, Johnny Raulerson. 201 Peele Court, Swansea. © The State, Columbia, SC, 10 Mar 2007
