Evelynn May "Evie" Kanavel of Walbridge, passed into the arms of Jesus at her home on Saturday, September 5, 2009. She was born to Kenneth and Josephine Abbey on July 27, 1928, in Toledo, Ohio.

Evelynn attended Scott High School and was employed with the A&P Tea Co. in Toledo for over 35 years. She left school early to go to work to help her mother with her six younger siblings after the death of her father. She married Carl E. Kanavel on June 11, 1949, and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church from childhood until she moved from Toledo to Delta, Ohio 27 years ago.

Two years ago, she moved to Walbridge, to be closer to her daughters. She was involved in Mother's Club and any school activity that her three children participated in while being raised. She was always there and was a wonderful mother in every aspect.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Carl; daughters, Jerri (Mike) Blazevich and Debbie Albring; grandchildren, Michael (Stephanie) Blazevich, Stacie (Terry) Bobo, Matthew Albring, Jason (Jamie) Blazevich, David (Blaire) Albring, Kimberly Kanavel, James (Diane) Albring, John (Diane) Albring, and Julie Albring; 14 great-grand-children; sister, Darlene (Dick) Coombs and brother, Kenneth (Lola) Abbey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dale; son-in-law, Bart Albring; sisters, Bonnie Larson and Jerri Cappelletty and brothers, Robert, Vernon (Jim), and Kit Abbey.

A more loving, giving, and caring mother could never be found. Her love and kindness will forever be in our hearts, Jerri and Deb.

Friends will be received in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main St. Walbridge, Ohio 43465 (419-666-3121) on Sunday, September 13, 2009, after 2 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 4 p.m., with Duane Cordray officiating.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
