John was born in Braintree,Sulfolk Co. (now Norfolk Co.), MA.

The will of his father, John Lamb, Stonington, CT dated 12 May 1703, names sons Joseph, David and John. Regarding John it stated "but if my son John never return again then that part of my Land to return unto Joseph and David Lamb to be divided equally"

Codicil: .. it is to be understood that I do give unto my sons Joseph and David all the lands on the west side of the Brook … and my son John Lamb the other part that is on the east side of the brook …

A Stonington, CT deed dated 14 Oct. 1719, from Joseph Lamb to David Lamb, states whereas John Lamb, father of the parties, by his last will and testament dated 12 May 1703, bequeathed to Joseph and David his whole farm in Stonington to be equally divided between them when they should become of age, and whereas ye Joseph and David have mutually agreed to divide, Joseph quit-claims all ye northmost or northwest part of ye farm to David, beginning .... Witnessed by C. Christopher and Sarah Christopher. (Stonington, CT Deeds, Births, Marriages, Deaths, and Ear Markings; Vol. 3, Pg 325-6 (first book on roll), Family History Library film 005593)

Note that, according to the deed, Joseph and David were willed the WHOLE farm. This could indicate that in 1719, the son, John Lamb, was not living and that he had no surviving children. However, Joseph deeded the northmost or northwest part of the farm. By the codicil: the father, John Lamb specified that Joseph and David were to receive all the lands on the west side of the brook and that his son John Lamb receive the other part that is on the east side of the brook. The east side of the brook apparently was not deeded to David by Joseph, so possibly Joseph deeded 33 1/3% of the farm.

Did John Lamb, the son, return? Did he marry and did he have children? Seek further information.
