At her home in this city last Friday, the Grim Reaper claimed the life of Mrs. M.A. Stroup, one of Checotah's pioneer citizens. Mrs. Stroup had been in poor health for a long time and had been confined to her bed the past five months.
Deceased was born near Buffalo, Mo., May 20, 1853 being 76 years, 1 month and 19 days of age at time of death.
With her family Mrs. Stroup located in Checotah in 1901 and this city has since been her home.
Mrs. Stroup leaves to mourn her loss three children as follows: Mrs. ida Timne, of Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Flora Osborn of this city and Floyd R. Stroup of Houston, Texas.
She united with the Baptist church in 1911 and until her last illness took an active interest in church work.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church in this city Sunday afternoon, with interment following at Greenlawn cemetery.
