LINCOLN - Howard "Shorty" Loveless, 75, of Lincoln, died at 9:03 a.m. Wednesday (April 25, 1984) in St. John's Hospital North, Springfield.

Mr. Loveless was born in Taylorville, son of John and Elizabeth Loveless.

He was a retired carpenter, a member of the United Methodist Church, Logan County Historical Society, Logan County Genealogical Society, Logan County Railsplitters Association, founder of West Lincoln Community Club and a World War II veteran.

He married Alma Arnold.

He married Nonnie Skelton in 1954.

One brother and one sister preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife; sons, Jack, of Portage, Ind.; John and Howard, both of Lincoln; Robert, at home; daughters, Geneva Wolover, of Marion; Mary Eryman, of Portage, Ind.; Mary Stone, of Lincoln; sister, Elizabeth Blake, of Pawnee; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services were in Holland & Barry Funeral Home, Lincoln.

Burial was in Irish Grove Cemetery, Middletown.
