Mr. J.L. Postell, age 72, of Ducktown, TN passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at his residence. He was born on September 19, 1938 in Cherokee County, NC to the late James Lloyd and Ellen Gilliam Postell. Mr. Postell was retired from the city of Cleveland, TN as an auto mechanic. He was a member of Salem #2 Baptist Church. Mr. Postell served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Hedden Postell; son, Anthony Postell and step daughter, Mrs. Kathy Hughes.

Survivors include three sons, Doug Postell of Acworth, GA, Randy Postell of Acworth, GA and Tony and wife, Rachel Postell of Brooklet, GA; one daughter, Michell McLain of Gulf Shores, AL; step daughter, Robin Hudson of Brooklet, GA; three sisters, Marie Postell of Blairsville, GA, Annie Sue Farr of Robbinsville, NC and Helen Tipton of Blue Ridge, GA; eighteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. from the Akins of Copperhill Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Mann officiating. Pallbearers were Kenny Martin, Shad Fowler, Tim Dilbeck, Jason Postell, Sam Tipton and Scott Powell.

Interment followed in the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.akinsfuneralhome.com. Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill was in charge of the arrangements.
