AMERICAN FALLS ID-Elvis B Darrington, 49, former resident of Twin Falls for 21 yeas and a former Elba and Filer resident, died Friday in a SaltLakeCity veterans hospital of a long illness.
Born Nov 14, 1917 in Elba, he lived there until 1935 when he moved with his family to Filer and graduated from the Filer High School. In 1940 he married Laura Isabelle Allen in the Logan, Utah temple. He served an LDS mission from 1941 to 1943 in the southern states and served 18 months in the armed services during World War II.
Active in the LDS Church, he was a member of the seventies of the American Falls Stake. After residing 21 years in Twin Falls, he moved to Rockland in 1962 and to American Falls in 1966.
Surviving besides his widow, are two sons, Lowell Darrington, Moscow, and Roy Darrington, American Falls, three daughters, Mrs Marvin Souther, American Falls; Mrs Dave (Carol) Haynes, Joplin, MO; Marilynn Misenhimer, American Falls; his mother Mrs Mary Victoria Bates Darrington, Twin Falls; Three sisters, Rieta Apfel, Twin Falls ; Reva Rountree, Pocatello; and Leorna Johnson, Rupert ID.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Tuesday in the American Falls LDS Chapel by Bishop Grant J Cleverly. Final rites will be in the Falls View Cemetery under direction of Davis Mortuary. Friends may call until 5 pm Monday and from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the mortuary and from noon until time of services at the chapel.
